Meeting Christ
in the Alleyes of Julfa

The district in which these Armenians settled later became known as the
"New Julfa" of Isfahan. Before long, the Armenians. were engaged in trade. //They introduced silk as Persia's most distinguished trading commodity.//

At this time, Iran's ambassador to Venice was an Armenian. The artists who
played a role in the construction or decoration of Vang Cathedral in Isfahan
had been students of the Italian universities, and hence, the Italian style. It was the efforts of these artists and architects that transformed Vang church. The structure metamorphosed from a small abbey into a large cathedral.
