The Battle & Banquet
"The chehel sotoun"

In the moonlight the "Chehel Sotoun"is still reflected in the water. In the sparkle of the ever-glittering stars of Persian history, its lofty columns, stand, heedless of songs sung in festivals, or the trumpets of war or the clashing of bloody swords. The "Chehel Sotoun"palace cherishes the pages of history at its heart, teaching us that the bloody scenes of battles and the soft songs of banquets all sink into oblivion. It is only the works of art that remain. On the walls of palaces, in the stories of history – this is the heritage of future generations. The evening is approaching, so I return to my own resting. I leave the leave the palace alone in its solitary splendor; we will slepp in the moonlight, with the stars glittering and the night sounds singing singing softly.
